One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer in the Savannah and Lowcountry area is getting to work at venues that are not only beautiful, but thoughtfully designed for a seamless wedding day experience. From historic downtown hotels to quiet marshfront estates and coastal chapels, this region offers a wide range of stunning backdrops.

Below is a curated list of Savannah and Lowcountry wedding venues I have personally photographed and loved working at. Each one offers something unique, whether that is beautiful light, timeless architecture, natural surroundings, or a layout that allows the day to flow effortlessly.

Hotel Bardo

Hotel Bardo is a luxury, design focused venue that feels like a European escape tucked into Savannah. The aesthetic is elevated and thoughtfully layered, with warm textures, refined details, and a lived-in beauty that photographs effortlessly. It’s by far one of my favorites, and I can’t keep from feeling like I’m literally walking into a movie when I step on property!

Located right at Forsyth Park, it offers endless portrait opportunities just steps away from the property. One of the biggest advantages of Hotel Bardo is its ability to host the entire wedding day in one place. From getting ready to ceremony to reception, the spaces flow beautifully without ever feeling repetitive or confined. You can even host a welcome party or after party at Club Bardo, a private and exclusive social club that adds an elevated and intimate touch to the overall wedding experience.

From a photography standpoint, every corner feels intentional, making it ideal for couples who value both experience and aesthetics.

Perry Lane Hotel

Perry Lane Hotel is a timeless and elevated option in the heart of downtown Savannah. One of its most striking features is the view of downtown Savannah from the gorgeous rooftop, which creates an iconic backdrop for wedding photos. Through the ballroom, you get the perfect view of the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, a true Savannah staple.

The venue is incredibly versatile. Couples can host getting ready, ceremony, and reception all on site, or choose a nearby cathedral ceremony followed by cocktail hour and reception back at the hotel. Their getting ready Celebration Suite is stunning! The hotel’s location near Chippewa Square and surrounding historic streets also makes it perfect for classic Savannah portraits.

This venue consistently provides a polished and elegant experience with beautiful light throughout the day.

Chateau 1800

Chateau 1800 offers a peaceful setting just outside of downtown Savannah, making it ideal for couples who want privacy without sacrificing convenience. Located in Rincon, it is an easy trolley ride from downtown while feeling far removed from the bustle, yet close enough for a fun wedding weekend for guests.

I have photographed weddings where couples spent the entire day on property, as well as weddings where couples got ready downtown, held a church or cathedral ceremony, and then transported guests to Chateau 1800 for cocktails and reception. Both options work beautifully here. Chateau 1800 has two private getting ready spaces on property, and so many package add on offerings. Two of my favorites are golf at cocktail hour or a mimosa bar for getting ready.

The architecture and grounds create a sense of timeless European elegance that photographs especially well throughout the day and into the evening.

Agapae Oaks

Agapae Oaks is a stunning marsh venue in Bluffton, South Carolina that truly captures the essence of the Lowcountry. The setting is quiet and serene, with sweeping marsh views and beautiful oak trees that create a naturally elegant backdrop.

The home on property is picture-perfect for getting ready, and the surrounding landscape offers incredible light and scenery throughout the day. From ceremonies beneath the oak trees to intimate receptions overlooking the marsh, this venue highlights the natural beauty of the region in a very effortless way.

It is a wonderful option for couples who want their wedding to feel timeless, romantic, and deeply connected to the Lowcountry.

Chapel by the Sea

Chapel by the Sea is a beautiful option for couples planning a coastal wedding at Tybee Island. The chapel itself features timeless details and southern charm while still feeling elevated and modern inside.

Located just minutes from North Beach, it is perfect for couples who want to pair a classic chapel ceremony with beach portraits afterward. Recent renovations have greatly improved the getting ready spaces and overall experience, making the venue even more enjoyable for couples and vendors.

From a photography perspective, the interiors are bright and clean, and the nearby coastline adds wonderful variety to wedding galleries. The look of the Chapel from the outside is just breathtaking, and the cascading steps in the front are one of the more iconic spots here!

Brice House

The Brice House is a stunning historic home in Vidalia, Georgia that offers an incredibly classic and refined atmosphere. The exterior of the home is full of character, and the property provides beautiful options for ceremonies, portraits, and intimate celebrations.

The venue has a French Provincial style to it and gorgeous gardens and a front lawn. When you book this venue, you get exclusive access for the weekend, a huge advantage that not many venues have to offer!

The timeless architecture and thoughtful details throughout the home create a setting that feels elegant without being overly formal. It feels just the right amount of homey, yet luxurious. It’s a lovely choice for couples who appreciate historic charm and a more personal wedding experience.

Hewitt Oaks

Hewitt Oaks is a beautiful venue in Bluffton, South Carolina known for its stunning oak trees, garden spaces, and peaceful setting. The property is filled with natural greenery and soft pops of color that lend themselves perfectly to a garden inspired wedding.

The getting ready spaces are thoughtfully designed, and the grounds offer many options for portraits throughout the day. The venue features multiple ceremony and reception locations across the property, giving couples flexibility in how they design their day while allowing everything to flow naturally.

Couples also have the option to add access to Hewitt House, a boutique bed and breakfast located just steps away from the wedding spaces. With French inspired styling and a small collection of beautifully designed guest rooms, Hewitt House is an ideal option for a wedding party or close family members and adds an elevated and intimate experience to the wedding weekend.

Final Thoughts

Savannah and the Lowcountry are home to so many beautiful wedding venues, each offering its own sense of place and atmosphere. From historic downtown Savannah hotels to marshfront estates and coastal chapels, this region truly has something for every style of wedding day.

The venues featured above are ones I have personally photographed and loved working at, chosen for their natural beauty, thoughtful layouts, and the way they support a smooth and meaningful wedding experience. Whether you are planning a Savannah wedding, a Lowcountry destination wedding, or a coastal celebration, choosing the right venue plays such a large role in how your day feels and flows.

Think of your venue as the foundation of your entire wedding aesthetic. You can have the most beautiful European styled Pinterest board in the world, but if you book a rustic barn venue, the end result is going to feel very different. The venue sets the tone before florals, rentals, or styling even come into play, so choosing a space that naturally aligns with your vision makes everything feel more cohesive and intentional.
